Another Death At Foxconn, and CEO Needs Therapy?
The situation at iPhone manufacturer Foxconn is getting way out of hand as it appears a 12th Foxconn employee has jumped from a building window and has become the 10th fatality in a spate of suicide attempts.
According to an article over on Gizmodo by Kat Hannaford, the latest death followed just hours after Foxconn’s CEO Guo Tai-Ming boasted to the press about the “fabulous facilities” at the factories. The 10th fatality was a man of 23 who jumped just before midnight local time last night.
Guo Tai Ming, at a press conference yesterday apparently said according to a translation from NowNews, that he “needs therapy,” and has ordered that safety nets be put up around employee dorms and factory buildings and commented that “although this seems like a ‘dumb’ measure, at least it could save life should anyone else fall.”
Well at least the erection of safety nets is a step in the right direction and there is definitely a need for something to be done to stem this spate of suicides, perhaps Apple getting involved will have a positive effect?
