More news on the Sony Ericsson PlayStation phone which has been rumoured to become available as the Sony Ericsson Xpeira Play smartphone as reported previously (here), however today’s news in on when we are likely to see the PlayStation phone.

According to an article over on Mobile Crunch by Serkan Toto, whatever the gaming phone is called one of the biggest newspapers in Japan, the Asahi Shimbun, is reporting that the PlayStation phone will see release in the spring of 2011.

However the main news is where the Sony gaming device will release first, and apparently that will be in Europe and the United States and according to the article will be manufactured by Sony Ericsson and run the Android operating system, which we already knew anyway.

Furthermore according to the Japanese newspaper, Japan will also get the PlayStation phone at some point in the game and tech wise the device is apparently based on the PSPgo but with a smaller form factor. So if this turns out true we can see the Sony Ericsson PlayStation phone sometime in the spring, anyone eagerly awaiting getting hold of this device?
