iPhone 5 Not Releasing June or July Confirms AT&T

There are still some of the iPhone faithful out there that hope that the next generation iOS smartphone will be released by Apple at the traditional release time of June or July despite the word being the iPhone 5 will not release until the Fall.

However, according to an article over on The Appera, the guys over at Macrumors have apparently hard from one of their readers that an AT&T customer care rep has said that Apple has official told AT&T the iPhone 5 will not release in June or July.

Here’s what the AT&T customer care rep apparently offered in a statement…” Apple has informed us that they do not plan to release the iPhone in the June to July timeframe, though there will be a newer version in the future. Unfortunately, we have not been given a release time for the new phone. We will release this information on our website when it is available to us.”

Now obviously one supposed customer care rep from AT&T, doesn’t make an official announcement, so this should be taken with a grain of salt as all rumours should be, but if true then it would appear that AT&T has confirmed there will be no iPhone 5 in June/July.

Having said that, it doesn’t really come as a surprise that the iPhone 5 wont release at WWDC 2011 does it?

This is not an accurate article. Why would your eligibility date change because a particular phone is not going to be available for 5 months. I have been eligible for a an upgrade since January and I have a 3G iPhone so I want the latest. My kids eligibility is in June and it did not move until September based on iPhone's expected release. This is someone out there trying to get in on the rumors.

Apple may tell upper management of ATT and Verizon but it would not have filtered down to customer service reps this soon. I would be pleasantly surprised if Apple pulls a fast one and does roll it out in June because I know that I am doing wishful thinking but I am not oputting anything past Apple.
