BlackBerry PlayBook 4G LTE releasing in Canada a week today
Although the fortunes of BlackBerry maker Research In Motion haven’t been fairing too well in the past, it was known that RIM would eventually deliver a 4G LTE enabled version of their BlackBerry slate, but other than knowing the company was planning the new version it wasn’t clear as to when they would deliver the device, until now.
According to the guys over at Pocket-lint, Research In Motion has now confirmed that the 4G LTE enabled BlackBerry PlayBook will release in Canada first, a week today, which is of course on the 9th of August on select carriers.
There was hopes that the new BlackBerry PlayBook 4G LTE tablet would come out to play packing BlackBerry 10, but in fact will sport BlackBerry OS 2.0.1 and comes with 32GB of storage.
Although Canada will be the first country to launch the 4G LTE BlackBerry PlayBook, Research In Motion has stated additional models supporting other high speed cellular networks are expected to become available over the coming months from such carriers in Europe, the United States, Latin America, South Asia and the Caribbean.
So there you have it the new 4G LTE enabled BlackBerry slate will make its debut in Canada next week, no word on what the 4G LTE version will set you back though at this time. Whether this new tablet will make any difference to RIM’s fortunes, and whether the uptake of the 4G LTE slate will be better than the original BlackBerry PlayBook remains to be seen.
Are any of our readers interested in picking up the 4G LTE BlackBerry PlayBook once it becomes available in their region?
