3 accusing UK carriers of ganging up to shut 3 out
3 are taking its larger rivals to the courts accusing them of trying to shut 3 out of the market to the tune of a staggering £250 million, that’s roughly $500 million. Their claim is about several meetings back in 2005 of the Operator Steering Group, of which Vodafone, Orange, O2, T-Mobile and 3 belong.
The talks in which everyone except 3 voted to keep the nation’s number transfer delay at five days even though the process actually only takes a matter of hours in European countries. 3 are claiming the other carriers use this long window to convince people porting their numbers to 3 to remain by offering discount packages. Whether this actually means some collusion is going on we’ll just have to wait and see what the courts say.
