The world’s first demo of end-to-end HSPA Evolution technology allowing speeds of up to 42 Mbps is to be conducted at CTIA Wireless 08 in Las Vegas April 1st to 3rd by Ericsson. These 42 Mbps speeds represent the next step in HSPA Evolution; they are achieving this by combining (64QAM) higher order modulation tech with 2×2 Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) antenna tech, these first steps are to be introduced during this year.
Ericsson’s WCDMA/HSPA Radio Access Network solutions bring a new path for HSPA Evolution and LTE with Ericsson recently launching a single package next-gen radio base station, the RBS 6000 range with enhanced multi-standard support of GSM/EDGE, WCDMA/HSPA Evolution and LTE.
Vice President and Head of Product Area Radio as Ericsson, Ulf Ewaldsson had this to say: “Achieving speeds of up to 42 Mbps is a major industry milestone. It further strengthens the position of HSPA as the major mobile broadband technology as we go forward. Consumers will enjoy an even richer communications experience thanks to higher speeds, while operators will be able to reduce network operating costs via increased throughput enabled by HSPA Evolution.”
