Reports are South Korean police are backing a controversial scheme that would see end and every new mobile handset sold in the nation equipped with a GPS chip, presumably taking a leaf out of Japan’s books here…
Song Kang-ho, chief of the investigation bureau of the National Police Agency has reportedly stated that the South Korean government has “already submitted a related bill to the National Assembly.” The general idea is to crack down on the disturbing rise of kidnap and other crimes against women and children; much like the American’s have a chip for E911. Although there isn’t much evidence this will actually happen, but we’ll keep you informed.
