Panasonic has announced that it has sold its 100 millionth mobile handset in Japan; Panasonic has supplies their devices to carriers such as NTT DoCoMo, Softbank and KDDI. Back in 1979 was when Panasonic fist began selling mobile comms terminals, followed in 1987 but selling its first mobile phone. Since that time Panasonic has moved forward to become number 1 or 2 within the Japanese market.
Panasonic’s 100 millionth mobile phone is the FOMA P905i, and was sold to NTT. 100 million is some quantity to shift, although I’m sure that more notable mobile vendors have shifted quite a few more; still credit where it’s due…well done Panasonic.
