Yes, apparently the Aussies are outnumbered, and by no less that the mobile phone. Actually to be exact the figure is 21.26 million mobile handsets, an increase of 7.6% on the year before.
Of this mass of Aussie mobiles 4.5 million of them are 3G handsets, which is an increase of almost 200 percent over mid-year figures between 06 — 07, whilst during the same period fixed landline services fell off slightly from 11.26 million down to 10.92 million; this seems to be the way things are going all over the globe.
The Australian Communications and Media Authority 2006-7 communications report supplies the stats, and intimate that not for the first time penetration can achieve 100%+.
