We have a few questions our readers have asked and we will answer them as best as we can, the questions today are for the Americans, basically similar for us in the UK as well “Do I have to hand over my Apple iPhone when upgrading to 3G iPhone? “So if I bought the original iPhone, can I trade it in for an iPhone 3G? And “So what do we do with our old Apple iPhones?
Right let me start with the first question which is “Do I have to hand over my Apple iPhone when upgrading to 3G iPhone? — The answer to this as far as we know is “No You Do Not” have to hand your original iPhone is, come on think about it, you have paid for this phone it is yours, if you bought one however within Apple’s grace period then you will be able to upgrade it for free. If you bought the original iPhone way back when they came out which means say half of your two year contract is up, you must know that when you get the new Apple iPhone 3G the new contract will start from scratch, for example if you go in for a trade and you still have 12 months left on the original contract, then basically that is tough you need to start a whole new contract. So if you get the new iPhone 3G on the release date of July 11th then your new contract will expire on July 11th, 2010.
“So if I bought the original iPhone, can I trade it in for an iPhone 3G?
Yes you can but only if you bought the iPhone after May 27th, 2008, more news to add to that and that is if you bought yours before that date then you will have to live with your purchase. Go on get down to the Apple store and see what you can do about that.
“So what do we do with our old Apple iPhones?
Now get this my fellow readers, the 3G iPhone for $200 which is a true blooming bargain, so how much seriously do you think you will get for an old boring and slow Apple iPhone. The good thing is you may be able to sell it if no one gives a damn about the new apps and of course 3G, but do not hold your breathe as one would say. We would have to say keep it as a spare, it may come in handy; you know for like going abroad or even to have fun and jail-break it. If you do sell it we would have to say format the iPhone so it goes back to original state when you bought it.
