Mobile video streaming platform Qik allows a user to stream video directly from their mobile handset straight to the internet, and the initial app was only available to select Nokia NSeries handsets, however, Qik is now expanding onto other platforms.
You may have already heard that the Apple iPhone application is in the works along with a version for Windows Mobile platform. The Windows Mobile application is still in “alpha invitation only” stage and at the moment only available for the Samsung BlackJack and Motorola Q, so if you do own one of these two mobile phones you can now sign up so try out Qik, and if you do so please drop us an email or comment to let up know how you get on with it.
Ramu Sunkara, Qik’s CEO, commenting on the announcement said: “We look forward to an ongoing relationship with Microsoft. In the meantime, Qik continues to provide a service that helps keep friends and families stay connected, features breaking news from professional media and citizen journalists, and fosters a totally new kind of communication.”
Apparently the firm is working in close quarters with the guys of the Windows Mobile team to try and get the product offering into beta sometime in the coming months, and will also be expanding to additional Windows Mobile phones.
