iSHARE held a survey and according to the results 91.0 percent of Japanese mobile phone users are not thinking on purchasing the new Apple iPhone 3G. The research was done after an announcement from SoftBank Mobile Corp that they are to release the Apple iPhone in Japan.
iSHARE targeted primarily the age group 20 to 49 whereby iSHARE asked a series of questions on their intension if any to purchase an Apple iPhone handset along with various other questions and received 402 responses via the internet.
iSHARE carried out this survey from June 5th to June 6th before the pricing of the Apple iPhone 3G was announced. The respondents subscribing to a carrier accounted for were, 39.8 percent NTT DoCoMo, 26.9 percent au, 22.9 percent SoftBank, while the remaining percentage of 6.5 percent was Willcom and Emobile.
When asked if they would be buying an Apple iPhone 3G, 36 respondents which equates to 8.9 percent, and nearly half of which were SoftBank Mobile users, replied “I am planning to purchase one.”
iSHARE have also said they conducted the same iPhone intention purchase survey back in July of 2007 when ta that time 9.6 percent of respondents answered “I’m willing to buy (replace) one,” while 62.2% said “I will consider buying one after examining the price or circumstances.”
Thus according to iSHARE the intension to purchase an Apple iPhone 3G has greatly weakened and grown negative from a year ago.
