Mobile Social Networking will be receiving a large push in the UK as Orange introduce their service which collects users’ accounts across the major social networks. The service, called MySocialPlace launched as a trial in France last month.
Now Orange is bring MySocialPlace to the UK and has now partnered with some of the biggest names in Social Networking on the worldwide web such as, Bebo, MySpace and FaceBook. MySocialPlace from Orange will be introduced in the UK in autumn and under the Orange World branded website.
In addition, UK users will be able to access the photo-sharing site Pikeo along with chat service Flirtomatic; whilst Orange customers in France can use the DailyMotion video site, dating service Meetic, and the Skyrock community.
Gerard Grech, head of strategy and business development, Orange said: “Nine months of research in the UK, France and Spain had shown that users typically use multiple sites and need an aggregated service. The key benefit is simplicity. Social networking is just another form of communication, so it extends the raison d’etre of the phone. It is exceeding our expectations how many people are accessing the service daily [in France] – more than use it on the web because it is so simple.”
