Well I guess it’s a step in the right direction. Apple has finally issued an apology for the difficulties with their MobileMe service, and has offered to compensate subscribers with a free thirty day extension, which is at least better than nothing and simply ignoring the problem.
The Apple apology follows after the replacement for the .Mac service failed for users; they were reporting multiple issues with backing up data and actually accessing the me.com web portal. While other users have been annoyed that MobileMe doesn’t offer true push capabilities as changes made from PCs and Macs sync once every fifteen minutes and not in real time.
Apple forwarded an email to subscribers which said: “We have recently completed the transition from .Mac to MobileMe. Unfortunately, it was a lot rockier than we had hoped. Although core services such as Mail, iDisk, Sync, Back to My Mac, and Gallery went relatively smoothly, the new MobileMe Web applications had lots of problems initially.”
Apple has said the MobileMe service is functional now, however many customers still report problems on the MobileMe support forum.
So that’s 30 days free extension for the MobileMe cock up, now what about compensating all the other customers for all the other cock ups?
