Probable the one thing that barriers the success of Nokia’s latest N-Gage is that it takes two to play, yes we know it is just as much a single player gaming platform as it is a multiplayer one, but the N-Gage community features are its crown jewel, and it is somewhat difficult to locate another N-Gage gamer somewhere in the world.
However, according to the nokia blog, Nokia’s Aki Jarilehto has stated to attendees at the Develop Mobile 2008 conference, that Nokia is looking at using N-Gage’s assets on none other than the Xbox Live or PlayStation Online.
As yet, there is no clarity on whether there will actually be any interactivity between console and mobile gamers, or even if Nokia is simply looking at another viable revenue stream to augment phone sales.
However, this at present is just a rumour as there has been no official statement from Nokia either way, but if we hear anything we’ll keep you informed.
