Just what the devil is going on at the Apple App Store? Apple quietly dumped Nullriver’s NetShare application last week, and then they put it back on, and low and behold it is now back off again.
Well apparently, over the weekend Apple without any explanation or notice to the developer dropped another application from the App Store, this time it was the turn of the popular free movie finder application Box Office.
Again, no word from Apple as to why Box Office app for the Apple iPhone has been dumped which is making the developer somewhat irate in his verbalisation on the matter.
“Apple pulled the app yesterday without giving me any notification that they were doing it, or what their justification was for removing it. I’ve tried to contact them about the issue, but it’s been a complete dead end. If anyone has a useful contact number for Apple, please let me know.
I’m in regular contact with all my data providers, and none of them have had an issue with my app. Indeed, the response was the exact opposite. They like my app and have even asked if i would do custom application work for them in the future. Furthermore, all the data I use is licensed by the owners as ‘free for non commercial use’. i.e. precisely what Box Office is.”
I don’t have any idea what Apple is playing at, but if they keep pulling applications without notice or explanation, and then burying their head in the sand communications wise, they will soon be losing a few good developers I would think.
