The quietness in the Android arena is leaving room for competitors to grabs some of the limelight, none more so than the LiMo Foundation who are taking advantage of the opportunity.
The LiMo Foundation has announced the membership of eleven new companies, namely “Cellon, Esmertec, Motorola spin-off Freescale Semiconductor, Longcheer Holdings, MIZI Research, Movial Corporation, PacketVideo Corporation (PV), SK Innoace, Telecom Italia, VirtualLogixâ„¢ Inc. and ZTE Corporation.”
The addition of these new members takes the LiMo Foundation’s memberships to more than 50 members.
Executive director of the LiMo Foundation, Morgan Gillis says: “LiMo’s consensual governance model and balanced collaborative development methodology have set it apart from other platform initiatives and continue to garner wide industry support. These 11 new members will join the development of a consistent and competitive global handset OS (operating system), within which the collaborative benefits of shared cost and innovation are realized and upon which diverse, commercially driven differentiation freely thrives.”
LiMo has also announced they now have 21 LiMo mobile phones out in the market.
