Apple iTunes Store is gaining the award winning Smithsonian channel and will initially offer up offerings such as Nature Tech, Remembering Vietnam: The Wall at 25, Day of the Kamikaze, and Stories from the Vaults.
Smithsonian Networks celebrate the American experience using branded original content which is drawn from the assets of the Smithsonian Institution, which includes the world’s largest museum.
The documentaries, films, and limited series which will be available on iTunes will cover such genres as history, technology, wildlife, pop culture along with children’s programs.
General Manager of Smithsonian Networks, Tom Hayden, said in a press release: “Our presence on the iTunes Store is great exposure for our new network and will allow a much broader audience the opportunity to sample our award winning original programming and builds and demonstrates the brand value of the Smithsonian name.”
Items of the Smithsonian on iTunes are available to purchase and download at a rate of $1.99 per episode.
