Craig Meehan aged 22 is to go on trial for the possession of child pornography. Meehan is charged with possessing 140 indecent images of children on his computer at his West Yorkshire home, and an indecent image of a young girl on his mobile phone.

The trial, being held at Dewsbury Magistrates’ Court is expected to take five days. Meehan is a former supermarket fishmonger and is charged with 12 offences of possession of child porn.

Meehan was charged with these offences back in April after he was arrested by police who were investigating the disappearance of 9 year old Shannon Matthews who went missing in February.

Meehan is the former partner of Karen Matthews, Shannon’s mother, and Meehan denies all charges.
