It appears that the Chinese are tapping relatives and friends who travel abroad to bring back electronic devices that are unavailable in China, and ironically the object they desire is actually made in China, the object is of course…the Apple iPhone.

Director of the consumer electronics division at market research firm In-Stat China, James Lei, said: “The iPhone has brought back the planned-economy era.”

Apple big wig, Steve Jobs has said he expects to reach a deal with China this year, and that obstacles that Apple has to overcome has to do with “regulatory bodies.”

China media reports that Chine Mobile and Apple are in the final stages of negotiations, but neither company would confirm.
