DMFC methanol fuel cell show off by Toshiba
CEATEC is a place of wonderment and gadgetry, and Toshiba has used CEATEC to show off their latest innovation, which is a new one on me anyway; the; DMFC, direct methanol fuel cell which is small enough to fit inside a mobile phone.
DMFC is apparently a new type of battery which utilises the reaction between methanol, air and water to produce electricity.
There isn’t much info on tech details, but Toshiba has mentioned a 50mL refill cartridge would be able to recharge a mobile phone for about 15 minutes, and the prototype they had is said to get up to six hours of talk time.
