According to a proposal by Datuk Shaziman Abu Mansor, Malaysia’s Communications Minister, International roaming charges may be reduced by up to half throughout the Asian region.
He told local newspaper, The Star: “We plan to reduce the roaming charges with Singapore first. In fact, I told the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) two weeks ago to proceed with this.”
Shaziman also said his ASEAN counterparts had agreed to this during the 8th Asean Telecommunications and Information Technology Ministers meeting held back in August.
This move should be of benefit to thousands of Malaysians who commute over the border to Singapore each day.
