After the report that Steve Jobs had suffered a heart attack which send shares in Apple plunging below $100, “The panic was unwarranted”, said Ezra Gottheil, an analyst with Technology Business Research Inc. “Apple doesn’t need Jobs anymore,” Gottheil said. “He’s established three sound businesses – Mac, iPod and the iPhone – and the company knows how to execute his fanatical devotion to design and usability. There’s a stable management team in place, and they know what they’re doing.”
Investors have been nervous about Steve jobs health since he appeared at Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference last June looking gaunt. “they shouldn’t be so worried, said Gottheil. ‘Without Jobs, Apple would have to pay a lot more to get the world’s attention”.
Jobs already have an organization, brand and strategy in place, so there is no reason things can’t move on without him. Gregg Keizer reporter for Computerworld, suggests that Tim Cook would be the man to replace Steve Jobs as he ran Apple in 2004 when Jobs had cancer surgery.
