Research in Motion’s (RIMM) Co-Chief executive Jim Balsillie, talks to the Financial Post regarding the launch of the BlackBerry Storm and how it measures up to the iPhone and the stock turbulence.
Balsillie regards the engineering of the BlackBerry Storm being the key element the smartphone has over Apple’s iPhone. RIM’s CEO remarked it’s the BlackBerry! Its global, scalable, its secure, its push and it can be used with Windows Media, Apple iTunes, online music services video, TiVo, facebook, MySpace. The BlackBerry is licensed for five instant messaging environments, the Storm will do web service enterprise and non-enterprise, up to 10 emails and enterprise secure. It’s a BlackBerry!
Balsillie wouldn’t comment on stock prices, however he did say that with today’s announcement of the RIM’s (RIMM) BlackBerry Storm we will hear all about key elements that affect RIM’s growth that are sector specific and all enablers. RIM’s CEO talked of the highs and lows and when RIM became public on the Asian meltdown and in the long term capital meltdown in 1997 and 1998. Of course RIM has also seemed many highs.
