Taiwan’s phone Manufacturer HTC has announced its third quarter handset sales are up by 31 percent. Although, profits fell 4.9 percent in comparison with 12 months ago, this reflecting a tight squeeze on margins.
High Tech Computers Corp. (HTC) revenues increased from £510 million between July and September 2007 to £663 million in 2008 during the same financial period. The manufacturer blamed “typhoon weather” in September for the slow shipment.
HTC are the company behind the production of the Google G1 handset excusive to T-Mobile set to be released on October 22. If the predictions are right the G1 will take a 4 percent slice of the US smartphone market in the fourth quarter of 2008. So far HTC’s best selling handsets have been the Touch Pro and the Touch Diamond.
