Rogers Wireless, RBC and Visa are to launch a customer phase of their mobile phone payment pilot scheme in the middle of 2009. Which will mean mobile customers will be able pay for small ticket products by waving their mobile phone over Visa payWave enabled checkout readers.
Vice-President, New Business Planning, Rogers Wireless, David Robinson says: “This pilot is the first step to making our customers’ mobile phones as indispensable as their wallets and we are excited to be working with Visa and RBC on this new wireless payment service.”
This pilot will be using Motorola mobile phones and is to be firstly targeted in certain quick service restaurants and retail stores in Toronto Canada.
