Adobe and ARM have announced a collaboration designed to optimise Adobe Flash Player 10 and Adobe Air to work on ARM powered mobile phones which could possibly though not necessarily include the Apple iPhone.
This joint Adobe and ARM venture will target ARM v6 and v7 architectures used in the ARM 11 and Cortex-A series of processors which are expected later on in 09. The thing is most mobile phones of today just can’t handle Flash, their processors just aren’t fast enough, and even the scaled down Flash Lite is still too much for most mobile handsets.
Back in mid June the CEO of Adobe stated they had an iPhone emulator running Flash; however Apple big wig Steve Jobs has already stated that Adobe Flash will not be coming to the iPhone anytime soon mainly because he believes Flash would perform poorly.
So, what do the people that matter think, the iPhoners themselves… Flash would perform poorly on the iPhone: Do you agree?
