Nokia aims to shift Vertu in Japan in 09
Nokia is planning on entering the Japanese market during 2009 and strengthen its position in Japan whit a two pronged assault. Firstly Nokia intend to launch their own wireless mobile phone network in Japan and then push their luxurious Vertu brand on their own network to the Japanese rich.
The plan is for Nokia to lease network time and bandwidth from Japan’s wireless NTT DoCoMo and so launch the Nokia wireless network under the MVNO model, which is leasing wholesale network time from the established carriers.
The Nokia MVNO will be targeted at the wealthy Japanese elite who can easily afford $30k for a mobile phone.
