AT&T have been posting great subscription growth this holiday shopping seasons, that to Apple, there seems to stopping the iPhone popularity according to Bloomberg’s Amy Thomson.
AT&T added 1.5 million new contracts this quarter according to Analyst at Robert W. Baird & Co. The same time last year they just managed 1.2 million. Meanwhile Verizon Wireless didn’t see much difference from the same period last year adding 1.5 million subscribers, Verizon launched the much talked about RIM BlackBerry Storm last month.
Although AT&T announced they would be cutting 12,000 jobs across its workforce, due to home landlines being abandoned in favor of mobile phones, the telecoms giant will be increasing its workforce in its mobile phone division.
6.9 million Apple iPhone 3Gs were sold last quarter, Research in Motion (RIM) only managed 6.1 million BlackBerry devices in the same period, The iPhone 3G has knocked the Motorola Razr off the top spot as the most popular handset for adults.
