Research in Motion (RIM) fixed BlackBerry Desktop Manager

Research in Motion (RIM) has released its BlackBerry Desktop Manager update and hardly anyone knew about it, if RIM had not fixed the flaw it could have been attacked causing a buffer overload, so it was a good job RIM fixed the ActiveX.

RIM urges all BlackBerry users to update to the latest patch for the BlackBerry Desktop Software version 4.5, 4.6 or 4.7 to avoid you accidently visiting a malicious websites that invokes the control whilst you sync your BlackBerry with Microsoft Windows on your PC.

According to the United States Computer Emergency Readiness Team (US-CERT) the problem is in the software package that allows vendors to provide updates to applications called Macrovision’s FLEXnet Connect.
