Just one month after release, T-Mobile have slashed the tariff pricing on its exclusive Google G1 Smartphone, faced with strong competition from Research in Motion (RIM) and the BlackBerry Storm and of course the Apple iPhone 3G they had to make the swift move to increase sales over the holiday shopping season.
However T-Mobile said that the price drop was not a reflection of poor sales, it was a move to keep the Google G1 competitive in the fierce smartphone market. The new T-Mobile G1 deal offered is you get the phone free on a £30 tariff. Previously you would have to pay £40 a month to get the Google Android phone for free.
So with Vodafone pushing the BlackBerry Storm and O2 pushing the Apple iPhone 3G, T-Mobile needed to give the G1a helping hand, well let’s face it, the G1 is fighting the companies at the top of the smartphone market.
