The Open Handset Alliance has gained another fourteen members, which include the likes of Sony Ericsson, ASUSTek Computer Inc. Softbank Mobile Corporation, ARM, AKM Semiconductor Inc., Vodafone, Toshiba Corporation, Huawei Technologies, Ericsson, Garmin International Inc., and a few others.
These newest Open Handset Alliance members are to either push out compatible Android mobile phones, support the ecosystem through products and services that will accelerate the availability of Android-based devices, or contribute significant code to the Android Open Source Project.
This will probably mean looking in depth as Android on such mobile handsets as the Sony Ericsson Xperia X1, Garmin’s extremely delayed nuvifone, and the Asus “Eee Phone.”
