Based upon polls of recent mobile phone purchasers, analyst firm Morgan Stanley believes T-Mobile USA may have sold more than 300,000 Google Android T-Mobile G1 handsets up to the end of 08.
In contrast, Morgan Stanley’s forecast that roughly 1.75 million Apple iPhone handsets sold is about 5.9 times more that what T-Mobile is believe to have sold.
One does however have to take into consideration that the Apple iPhone had a full run of the quarter and has also had significantly more time to established a 3G network to boost sales whereas T-Mobile 3G coverage only reaches 25 major areas as opposed to 300 by Apple.
As for worldwide figures, well obviously the Apple iPhone is doing better with in excess of 70 countries whereas only the United Kingdom could sell the G1 outside the United States.
