RIM boss expecting BlackBerry Storefront to shake-up mobile music

Research In Motion has now joined Apple, Microsoft, Google and Palm with the official opening of their applications store, the BlackBerry Applications Storefront.

Better late than never I guess, the BlackBerry App Storefront is now open to submissions, and it seems Research In Motion will be doing a more Apple style closed market rather than an open Android market. RIM’s new app market is schedules to go live in March at CTIA.

RIM CEO Jim Balsillie recently told a panel RIM is expecting “dozens of music apps” in the Storefront, so one would assume RIM is expecting great things in the applications world, but will they be able to stand up to the likes of the iTunes App Store and the Android Market, only time will tell.
