We all know the Palm Pre smartphone comes from Palm but the capacitive multi-touch panels are made by Cypress Semiconductor according to Taiwanese rumours. Palm decline to answer any questions regarding suppliers during the Palm pre briefing, however it is said that Cypress Semiconductor is the sole supplier.

Apparently the TrueTouch panel on the Palm Pre is capable of recognising 10 distinct points of contact at the same time and this could well open the doors to more complex gestures.

We have a demonstration video below of the TrueTouch panel in operation which is now used on the Palm Pre and shows one finger on the origin and a thumb on the destination while another finger touches other roads to give real-time travel estimates.
