It appears that Windows Mobile isn’t doing too badly after all, as it looks like Windows Mobile actually expanded a tad better than the Apple iPhone operating system during the final quarter of 2008.
During a recent earnings conference call, Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer stated that Microsoft had seen 5 million Windows Mobile based smartphones sold in the fourth quarter of 08 which is slightly more than the Apple iPhone’s 4.4 million of the previous quarter.
Reports had Apple and their iPhone pushing Windows Mobile down to 4th place in the global mobile market share, but it still seems Microsoft successfully pushed out more mobile phones than Apple. One up for Microsoft I’d say.
