iPhone Free Text App Shut Down: Google Blocks It
Paid Apple iPhone app Infinite SMS, the Apple iPhone app which allows iPhoners to send free texts has been forced to shut down only a month after it went on sale in the Apple iTunes App Store.
Apparently, the 3rd party app had been tapping into Google’s Gmail Labs SMS service to deliver free text messages for iPhoners, and Google was paying for the messages.
A statement posted on Inner Fence’s blog states that Google is not singling out Inner Fence, but would now be blocking all external XMPP clients from sending SMS.
Obviously Google is not going to foot the bill for a 3rd party app that makes cash for them and not Google which is only to be expected.
