Apple has announced that tethering will come to the Apple iPhone with iPhone OS 3.0, but it appears that it will be up to carriers to activate iPhone tethering when Apple iPhone OS 3.0 lands.
The guys over at Pocket Lint contacted Vodafone and O2 in the United Kingdom, O2 said they are working with Apple to ensure all features including tethering are operational on the O2 network, but weren’t making any announcement yet.
Vodafone was also reluctant to confirm tethering for the Apple iPhone would be supported on their network. But no doubt once both carriers have thrashed out what they can charge they’ll both eventually allow tethering for the Apple iPhone.
