Vodafone and O2 agree to share network
Vodafone and Telefonica have signed a deal to share network infrastructure in the United Kingdom, Spain, Germany and the Republic of Ireland.
In the UK Vodafone and O2 who are owned by Telefonica are to construct and share new network sites together and will share masts, cabinets, antennas, power supply and also consolidate G and 3G masts.
This is hoped to provide customers with wider network coverage whilst using fewer masts, and are hoping voice services will improve along with providing mobile broadband to a much wider area of the UK
