CTIA 2009: Verizon will deliver 4G to rural America says senior VP
Apparently according to a report over at cnet, while at CTIA 2009 in Las Vegas, the senior VP and chief technology officer for Verizon Wireless, Tony Malone, has stated that the 4G network Verizon is working on will blanket the whole continent of the US and include the far corners of rural America.
If Verizon can pull this off they will undoubtedly be helping to bridge the gap between those that have broadband and those who are currently going without.
Although Verizon is constructing the Verizon 4G network primarily to deliver a faster service for mobile phones, this 4G network could be used to provide broadband services to those rural areas of the US that are currently stuck with dial-up.
