Will you buy iPhone 3.0 or Palm Pre?
Apple will soon push out the Apple iPhone 3.0 and at some stage Palm will eventually push out their Palm Pre smartphone, and no doubt both will do battle for supremacy with the public.
The Palm Pre has a lot going for it but still we have no confirmed price or release date, while the Apple iPhone has a confirmed reputation not only in software and hardware but in huge sales as well.
So once both these giants of the smartphone arena come into play, we’d love to know, given the choice which our readers would prefer to own.
So, will you buy iPhone 3.0 or Palm Pre?
James.

I would like to say after careful consideration and thought.Iphone will cost you and extra $720 for the 2 year contract for the basic service over the Palm Pre on Sprint and the Pre also includes GPS,TV and Radio and many other features Apple and ATT charge you extra for. Saving $720 for 2 years and on a network that is better then ATT(the only network you will be able to get Iphone on)with all of their dropped calls and lousy service is a no brainer fo most. PALM PRE FTW and A new Big Screen TV after all the savings =)
Howard. 720$ over the course of 2 years!!! That comes out to be something like 1 dollar a day. No one, but I mean NO ONE, is going to save a dollar everyday for two whole years. And even if they do, “Big Screen?†LOL…. The choice is clear. Why would anyone buy 1st generation Pre, when you can get a 3rd generation iPhone. Plus the Pre hasn’t even set a price tag on their phone yet, so that eliminates or at least pauses your whole 720$ theory. iPhone has a loyal customer base, proven App Store, and 99.9% of all feature the majority of all Users requested. Plus Pre is just reacting to what iPhone has already accomplished, attempting to emulate. iPhone is creating and developing, staying at the forefront of mobile technology. Pre can only wish to have half of the success the iPhone already has.
What are you smokin? Get a product in third generation or first generation? You are not a tech person if you concider this as a question!
iPhone rocks!
It will take years to get to where apple is now.
Good luck
let’s see when the hardware actually comes out. At this point it looks like the Pre has the technical edge with a more powerful processor which allows multitasking and all the speed benefits entailed. That said, we haven’t seen the phone yet. We also haven’t seen the new iPhone hardware. No doubt it will be an incremental upgrade as apple always does. All-in-all, without having the phones in my hands, I’d choose the Pre- just seems like apple gives out its “upgrades” so sparingly. Multitasking? No, have some 4 year old “push” technology instead. Also, seems to me the only real iPhone advantages are the browser and library of apps- if the Pre’s browser is as fast as it seems, the iPhone really only has its app store left as an advantage- and it’s only a small one with the Pre now being able to run PalmOS apps.
The Palm Pre, definitely. Both AT&T network and no physical keyboard turned me off of the iPhone. With WebOS and multitasking applications the Pre is a very attractive device. As indicated in another post I would like to have seen keyboard slider in landscape mode, and the ability to add storage above 8GB, but I\\\’m loving everything else about the device and will be one of the first to own it.

I have been anxious for the arrival of the pre ever since I heard of it the week the news was out that it was coming!
I will be one of the first to have one in canada for sure!! I can`t wait! Of course it might be a while longer for me than you lucky ducks in the states!
Palm made a huge mistake going with Sprint. CDMA is a dead technology to be dumped in the next couple of years. They also made a mistake by going with a smaller screen size – 3.5″ is the absolute minimum for web browsing and videos.
The pre will get a few AT&T haters, like the Blackberry Storm, and good for them. iPhone users will not switch and will buy updated iPhones when available.
I like what pre has to offer and wish them the upmost success – competition is good. The iphone is a great phone but if they don’t make some major “wow” improvements this summer it’s kinda becoming old news.
Pre? LOL I’m upgrading my 3G to the next iPhone if and when it comes out. It’s one thing to hate AT&T and go with Verizon, but to criticize AT&T and switch to Sprint…HAHAHAHA
“€hR!$” is clearly a mindless consumer, buying apple for apple-sake, instead of looking for a superior product.
Moron.
@Russel Bishop, ouch. 😛
