Will RIM add Foxconn as new EMS partner for smartphones?
We have been reading the news and the latest shows that RIM may possibly add Foxconn as the new EMS partner for smartphones.
Research in Motion (RIM) according to DigiTimes is looking for an EMS partner for the production of its smartphones in Asia Pacific, and it looks like it will be with Taiwan-based Foxconn Electronics (Hon Hai Precision Industry).
At the moment RIM is currently is co-operation with EMS firms Celestica and Elcoteq and now by adding another it looks like it will boost its output to meet the expansion in global market share, if Foxconn gains orders from RIM it will mean the firm will become one of the most comprehensive OEM smartphone maker capable of producing smartphones that run on all major handset operating system (OS), including BlackBerry OS, Windows Mobile, Web OS, iPhone OS and Android.
