It would appear that it’s not the smartphone that is big business in the mobile arena these days but what applications are available for those smartphones. Many manufacturers and carriers are opening their own applications stores like the Apple iPhone App Store.

And according to pcworld, the latest carrier to opt for opening their own applications store is none other than the world’s largest wireless carrier, China Mobile.

China Mobile hopes to launch their app store by the end of 2009 and it will be known as Mobile Market, although as yet the Mobile market is still in development and doesn’t have a Web address. Apparently this Mobile market was a sticking point in the negotiations to bring the Apple iPhone to China as Apple doesn’t want app competition.
