More rumour of background processes for the Apple iPhone hit the net waves as palluxo report that Apple may be thinking of allowing background processes for a limited number of 3rd party developers.
Apparently there are 2 scenarios, the first is to allow iPhone users to select a number of 3rd partly applications in the background, and the other is to allow a number of developers to run processes in the background.
A rumour back in February had it that Apple was supporting push notifications and planning to allow background processes. Push notifications will be in iPhone OS 3.0 which will benefit chat and Twitter, but there are still apps which would benefit from background process.
There is a rumour that the new iPhone will have double the memory along with a better CPU and this makes it a perfect contender for background processes. So maybe we will be hearing the iPhone gaining some type of background processes at WWDC next month.
