Apple has begun running stress tests for push notifications for their new iPhone OS 3.0, and to manage the abundance of notifications from the applications, Apple has added a new menu which allows the user to manage said push notification settings along with being able to turn them on and off says Cnet.
This introduces an annoying problem for business users, but one that Nokia has solved a decade ago by using user sound profiles which allow the user to change multiple settings with two button presses. Whereas the iPhone has a single profile, and with iPhone OS 3.0 some of the options go deeper than version 2.0.
Google Android however takes a more open approach leading with a handful of genuinely useful applications to accomplish the same thing, Toggle and Locale. These things could make the iPhone OS much simpler to use.
So, can Apple learn from Google and Nokia? Maybe they could.
