iPhone OS 3.0: How to enable internet tethering for free
Would you like to know how to tether your iPhone for free and link it with your laptop?
In the UK O2 want to charge nearly £15 a month to do this and as of now US AT&T have not announced their charges or support yet, but a simple and easy but not so legal method has come to our attention.
You do not need to use iTunes to hack or jailbreak your phone just simply visit a website and download settings to update your device, below is Richard Lai simple guide:
1) Visit http://help.benm.at/ from your iPhone 3.0 device, 2) You will see the following screen, select “MobileConfigs”, 3) Next, select your provider and download the settings pack:, 4) You should now be able to enable tethering:
As of this moment in time we are not sure whether your provider will charge for this or whether it is totally legal but sites are saying they have been successful and it has been confirmed that it works well on iPhone 3G 3.0 with O2 UK. Let us know how you get on

i set up internet tethering after going through the four steps above and it works a treat. i then called O2-UK to ask them if i needed to buy the “required” bolt-on before setting up the internet tethering with my iphone or if it would be automatically added after. the lady said that i needed to buy the bolt on before setting up the internet tethering.
so to me it loos like doing it this way gives you free internet tethering.
thank you very much, its 15 quid that i don’t have to waste every month. 🙂
This is excellent thank you so much!!!!

Has this download now been removed as I can’t get to download the Mobileconfigs any longer? If so does someone have it somewhere so I can run it on my iphone?
