According to a report over on informationweek, Consumer Reports’ latest smartphone ratings place the new iPhone 3GS as 1st, however there was a strong showing from the Palm Pre and BlackBerry Storm.

The iPhone 3GS edges out all rivals, rating strong performance in everything other than voice quality, but voice quality is an area where not many mobile phones scored well anyway.

Consumer Reports say the iPhone 3GS has “top notch” multimedia navigation, battery life and web browsing while excelling in display quality. However the Palm Pre, BlackBerry Storm an others bested the iPhone 3GS in messaging.
