Researchers from Las Vegas have apparently discovered a way to take over complete control of an iPhone, just by sending special SMS messages.
The attack is started by a memory corruption bug according to Miller a security researcher at Independent Security Evaluators. At the moment there isn’t a patch to fix this despite the fact that apple were informed of this problem some six weeks ago.
It’s similar to a demonstration CNET news wrote about in April. In recent research Android based phones were also found to be susceptible to an SMS attack. Google have apparently patched that hole within just a day or two of being informed of the problem. Go to news.cnet.com for more information
