The cut priced airline Jetstar, has introduced a boarding pass system on SMS developed by Melbourne based IT company Sissit Group.
The system works by giving Jetstar’s online consumers the choice of being able to receive their boarding pass and a simple unique code through a standard text message. The message can then be scanned at the gate to produce the paper pass if they have no bags to check in. Ideal for business travellers.
Over half of the airlines national customers already use the electronic check in option either by way of web check in or self check in at the airport. This will surely simplify the process of boarding and checking in and obviously increase service levels. A planned trial will begin at Avalon airport in Melbourne in just four weeks time.
