Well it looks as if RIM’s pulling another cat out of its bag; its recent application has revealed a plan to have a hybrid capacitive / resistive touchscreen.
RIM has the idea, that taking all the best characteristics from all the other touchscreens, and develop one amazing touchscreen. This would have the common usability, pleasantness and displays, plus the advantage of a resistive screen.
It is more than likely that the resistive displays are only going to be used for higher-end phones in the beginning because of the cost effectiveness.
